Zabrina is a scholar of human and organizational systems, a futures researcher, and an analyst of public sector fiscal policy. For the majority of her twenty-year career in higher education, She advised and taught communication courses at a community college, developed training curricula, and conducted leadership development sessions for faculty and staff. Her work as a futures coach is an outgrowth of advising students and faculty. Zabrina is a Fellow of the Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership and Education and a 2023 Emerging Fellow at the Association of Professional Futurists. She writes about emancipating public education futures and creates programs for leaders on how to engage futures thinking and foresight within their leadership practices. She was Chairperson of the Transnormal Institute Board.
