There is no such thing as ‘the future’

Things change. But now change itself is changing.

There are numerous alternative futures. We can all participate in shaping the futures we desire. But to shape all our tomorrows, we must start today.

  • There is no such thing as ‘the future’

Much of what we are facing now we have never faced in history.

Climate Catastrophe. Anthropocene. Post-Truth. Bioengineering and Biohacking. Fakes and Deep Fakes. Social Media Madness. Multiple Personal and Social Identities. AI Revolution. Degrading Governance. Global Power Shifts. Multipolar World Order. Xenophobia and the Return of Fascism. ‘Everything, everywhere, all at once’.

  • There is no such thing as ‘the future’

Normal is evaporating rapidly and will no longer exist.

Nothing is definite, truly guaranteed, or totally safe. The world is awash with uncertainty and ignorance.

  • There is no such thing as ‘the future’

Most of our problems are complex problems that require complex approaches.

But sometimes profound simplicity can do the trick.

  • SCRIPT/MADANI

SCRIPT/MADANI was a project between the CPPFS and Anwar Ibrahim to craft a policy framework to be used once he became Prime Minister of Malaysia that both assisted in navigating postnormal times and aimed at steering the country towards a better future.

  • Workshops

Our workshops are one of the primary ways in which we can engage both the familiar and the unfamiliar with concepts, theories, and methodologies from futures studies and postnormal times theory.

Greetings from Postnormal Times

An in-between period where old orthodoxies are dying, new ones have yet to be born, and very few things seem to make sense. We are perilously hanging between the ‘no longer’ and the ‘not yet’.

Be Postnormal

Let us navigate Postnormal Times towards our preferred, inclusive futures together.

We can’t return to the normal, because the normal that we had was precisely the problem.
