Mirza Sarajkić is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature. Literary theorist, translator and futurist, he is the author of five significant academic works. His book The Ghazals of Ahmed Hatem Akovalizade in Arabic (2011) examines Bosniak manuscripts and poetry collections in Arabic, while Anthology of Contemporary Omani Literature: Prose and Poetry (co-authored with Munir Mujić) provides a critical review of key authors in contemporary Omani literature. In The Poetics of Resistance in the Oeuvre of Mahmoud Darwish, Sarajkić explores Palestinian literature within the framework of contemporary literary theory. The Tammuz Poets: Introduction to Contemporary Arabic Poetry (2020) focuses on leading contemporary Arab poets and the avant-garde paradigm of the Tammuz group. Mirza has translated numerous Arabic and English works; his translation of Mahmoud Darwish's anthology of poetry received the Best Translation Award in 2009 and he received the same award again in 2022 for his translation of Adania Shibli's novel Minor Detail. As a pioneer of futures literacy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has organized public lectures on the topic, coordinated multiple projects related to future studies, and translated key texts of futures studies and postnormal times.
